Does anyone have any suggestions how we could double or triple the number of people using this site? How do we make it better and more attractive?

We don’t have self-sustaining numbers yet and, as people know, building a new community is pretty hard.

I really don’t – I’ve been trying to mention it online, but that’s mostly making me realize that I’m not as active online as I once was. (I’ve also mentioned it to the groups I participate in, but that’s not so many people, and many of them are rather less involved online than even I am.)

I think it would help to receive a message in one’s email inbox each time anyone posts anything (in the MKZC group). Thank you for this tool. I am hopeful I can learn from the sangha here and also be more mindful of my practices because of the positive energy created by this sort of conversation.

Oh, give Al a break – the site has been around for a while, and despite his efforts it hasn’t yet really taken off.

We actually have a reasonable number of members – probably the next thing really is to start posting interesting questions and conversation starters. And to contribute to conversations. (And possibly work to make sure conversations don’t get hijacked in unproductive ways, though that is a delicate art.)

The ability to get e-mail anytime anyone posts in a group you subscribe to is an option that I should be able to add.

You could set up a facebook “like” page that links to this site. Here’s an example:

    http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=92881589623

It will help if you include “Buddhist” as part of the name of the Facebook page (maybe…Buddhist OneSangha.org)…so that when FB users search for “Buddhist” they find the OneSangha page.

Also, consider adding Facebook “like” buttons to the OneSangha site. You can also add a Facebook “like” box on this site (Wordpress widget).

Once you have the Facebook page set up, you can comment on posts made on other Buddhist-oriented page walls which will greatly increases OneSangha’s exposure.

And I’m afraid my post came across as harsher than I’d meant it. Al is a dear long time friend, and hassling him has been an occasional hobby of mine for a great many years ;-) But it is hard going, starting a new community, and it’s kind of sad when it doesn’t take off or takes a long time to take off.

@Al – that’s a great add in my humble opinion! If I got the emails then I would know when to log in and catch up. Please don’t let me pressure you though! I just like answering questions mostly! haha But since we are on the topic, I was thinking that if each comment under the Forum tab in MKZC were it’s own thing (instead of part of the thread) then it would be possible to just respond to one person’s comment without responding at the end of the thread. Does that make sense. Just an idea, not by any means a demand! =) And it may not even be an idea that anyone else likes so I humbly submit it for your review.

@ Ms. Kehl =) No harm done by sharing your view. In fact, I needed to clarify myself and you helped me to do that. Most of the truly worthwhile communities I’ve ever been a part of are small. For whatever reason. Boggles the mind, but it’s how it is. Gassho.

Catherine, I deleted the comment on group leaders responding to posts because it was out of place and confusing since I didn’t qualify it. I can see why it seemed like a tall order since it ‘sounded’ like I wanted Al to respond to all our posts, which would just be crazy. ;) It’s probably too much even for a home group leader in our forum to do. We all have enough on our plates as is. Gassho.
